What is the goal of this study?

The goal of this research study is to validate a screening tool that aims to identify which families are ready to engage in obesity treatment for their children.

Who can join the study?

In order to participate in this study, you must meet the following criteria:

  • You must be a parent of a child that is between 6 and 12 years old.
  • Your child must have a high weight status. Weight status is determined by your child’s body mass index (BMI). BMI is a measure of a child’s weight and height relative to his/her age and sex.

What will happen if my child takes part in this study?

If you agree to participate in this study, you will be asked to complete a survey now and another survey in 1 to 2 weeks. These surveys will take up to 10 minutes each to complete. We will ask you some questions about your family’s demographic characteristics and health status.
