Biography
Dr. Venkatraman received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Oregon, where her research focused on the role of family management practices in the prevention of adolescent problem behavior. She completed her psychology clinical internship in Behavioral Medicine and Neuropsychology at the University of Washington (Harborview Medical Center), and subsequently completed a two-year, postdoctoral research fellowship in the University of Washington School of Nursing, where her research focused on adolescent behavior and functioning in the context of chronic illness, and the role of the family in adaptation and coping. Her current clinical interests include using evidence-based therapies to improve coping and adjustment in adolescents and children with medical illness.
Dr. Venkatraman is Co-Director of the Mood and Anxiety Program (MAP) within Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine. She served as President of the Washington State Psychological Association in 2017 and 2018. She currently teaches a graduate level clinical course in the University of Washington Department of Psychology, and also supervises doctoral-level clinical psychology students.
