Academic Title: Clinical Professor

"As a young child I was drawn to the field of medicine, possessing a strong desire to help improve the lives of patients and their families. The world of pediatrics was a natural fit for me as I love the resilience, energy, excitement and fun that children have to offer. Providing these children and their families with the best medical care and experiences while navigating our complex medical system, has served as my inner compass throughout my career. I fully respect and appreciate the privilege I have in caring for someone elses child. Having my own two daughters has further reinforced my guiding principles, has made me a better and more understanding pediatrician, and continues to serve as an inspiration to improve the practice of pediatrics."

  • Biography

I have been at Seattle Children's Hospital (SCH) and the University of Washington Department of Pediatrics, Department of Hospital Medicine since 2011, having transitioned from Phoenix Children's Hospital. I completed my earlier training on the East Coast, having attended Brown University for undergraduate and SUNY Downstate for Medical School. I work clinically as a hospitalist and spend my administrative time as the Medical Director of inpatient care coordination and quality and safety for our regional hopsital medicine programs, as well as consultant for SCH's Clinical Effectiveness Team. My research interests are centered around quality improvement and value related to improving care for hospitalized patients, clinical standard work and readmissions. I am inspired and grounded by my wife and two daughters, while always waiting for the next powder day or good swell to stay recharged.
