On staff since August 1985
Children's Title: Chief, Foot and Limb Deformities
Academic Title: Professor

"The word orthopedics means straight child. As a pediatric orthopedic surgeon, I have the training and opportunity to straighten childrens arms and legs that are crooked and deformed because those limbs were made wrong, grew wrong, or were injured. My work is immensely satisfying, because it improves childrens comfort and function, allowing them to live more productive, normal lives."

My parents took me to Dr Mosca when I was born 35 years ago with Arthrogryposis and bilateral club feet. After years of casting, braces and surgeries, I am a successful long haul trucker. I still remember Dr Mosca, even though I haven’t seen him since I was 18 years old. Thanks to his expertise, and skill I am leading a normal life! I would love to see Dr Mosca and tell him personally thank you, and show him my feet!
-
I was a patient of Dr. Moscas back in the 80s-90s and am forever grateful for his care. I am now 35 and still remember his care and concern for me as a patient and as a person. I am a below the knee amputee that was born with multiple birth defects and I remember his laugh vividly and how he would ask me about my swimming and other activities that I was involved in. I would like him to know that he has made a lasting impact on my life and I will forever be grateful for his hard work, dedication to his craft, and general empathy and care that he has for his patients. We feel it, felt it, and are grateful to have people like you working in this field. I wish you and your family blessings and love. Thank you!!! Amber Williams

My son Tyler has been going to see Dr. Mosca since he was a small child. Now that he is almost 21 and getting ready to leave Dr. Mosca's care I just wanted to say what a wonderful experience it was having Dr. Mosca care for my son. Every time he went to see him Dr. Mosca always was very careful explaining every aspect of my son's treatment to me and as he grew older to Tyler. Through many appointments and two surgeries Dr. Mosca always treated my son with respect and always listened to my sons questions and input. I can never really put into words how much it meant to have Dr. Mosca care for my son. Thank you Dr. Mosca and your whole team.
-
Dr. Mosca has a unique combination of incredible talent, wonderful bedside manner, and genuine compassion. We will forever be grateful for his commitment to his profession and patients.

Dr. Mosca is an inspiration to me. I was the first person in the United States that he put the "cage" to lengthen my left leg. He did a presentation about me to students studying to be orthopedic surgeons. He inspired me to become a part of the health care field. I could never find the words to thank him enough. He changed my life, Literally, he was able to give me a normal childhood, without kids making fun of me. I grew up at Children's Hospital having 21 Surgery's in all. Children's is where I call home. The Doctors and the Nurses are amazing and made me feel so comfortable to be there. Believe it or not I always looked forward to my next surgery so I could see them again. Dr. Mosca is the best Orthopedic Surgeon I could have and would have every asked for. I miss seeing everyone now that it has been 20 years since my leg lengthening surgery and 14 years since my last surgery.

I wish I could do more than type a simple recommendation as a thank you for what Doctor Mosca did. About 16-17 Years ago, I was born with a Club Foot. Though, I didn't have to worry. Nor, did my parents. I don't know how old I was, I'm guessing 8 months; But, Doctor Mosca did 1 surgery on my left foot and completely fixed my clubbed foot. Apparently, his words were "It was like God's hands turned this boy's foot around.". 1 cut is all it took too fix my foot. I am truely happy that this man was able to give me a functioning foot. Thank you.
-
I was born in 1987 with 2 severely clubbed feet; my mother said that my feet We're turned upward and you couldn't even fit a piece of paper in between the top of my foot and my leg. I wore casts for an entire year prior to having surgery in 1988 done by Dr Mosca and a Yakima area doctor, Dr Place. After the surgery I had more episodes where I wore casts periodically and would go back to Childrens to be checked out by Dr Mosca and I am so grateful for him and his team because I can walk. I am continually reminded that I am physically blessed to be able to even walk and That is due to a great surgeon
-
Dr. Mosca diagnosed and surgically corrected my son's deformity. We had moved around the country, which my husband's job, and no doctor could figure out why my son's legs would not come together when bent. We assumed Brian would always be this way; unable to run, swim, bike, walk correctly. However, after his pediatrician asked that we take him in for an unrelated test, a team of doctor's went to work looking for a solution. We had truly given up hope. He was a freshman in high school. Dr. Mosca had remembered seeing this condition in a journal years ago, studied it, and performed the surgery! It was THE answer! We love him so much that we are now bringing our other son all the way from Atlanta to see him! It is a financial sacrifice, but I won't trust any other doctor when it comes to orthopedics anymore!

My son Alexander was born with a short right femur(upper leg bone)which also suffered a fracture a week after birth, being a parent for the first time made this even a scarier experience. We consulted another medical hospital wich didnt provide us with any answers in fact everything they DID tell us scared us even more. We thought our son would never walk/crawl or do any normal movement like the rest of us, "we were horrified". Luckly at 3 months of age we asked that he be reffered to Children's which turned out to be a blessing!!! His first years of treatment were with Dr. Schamale but Dr. Mosca has always been involved in his case. They both had answers to everything we asked assured us that it was not as bad as we were initially informed and that my sons case was not only not unique rare or untreatable that in fact they had seen other cases like his. Our jurney has been long and although I iniatially did not make this easy on them they were understanding of all my doubts and fears, and patiently answered and dealt with this over protective, doubful mom. My son is now 8 years old, he has under gone several surgeries to repair his leg bone and will eventually undergo a lenghtening procedure, it has not been nor will it ever be easy emotionally but it is very reassuring to see how much Dr. Mosca cares for each individual case, I can honestly say we couldnt be in better hands. He is truly very knowledgeable which makes it easier to cope with any doubt and fear you have. Thank You Dr. Mosca for everything you have done thus far for my son, you truly are an example to many in your field. Even though he is still young my son now aspires some day to follow in your footsteps so that he can help other children with this issue the way you have helped him. Thank you for your expertise, passion and overall care.

Dr. Mosca treated my daughter Daniella from club foot, she is now 5 years old and a very happy girl, me and my husband will be always thankfull with Dr. Mosca, god bless him.
-
dr. mosca i just want to let you know we always appreciate what you done to my daughter sanaa she is now 7 years old doing just fine after the hip surgery she had five years ago ,we always thank you for the great job you did, wish you the best
-
Dr. Mosca you are remarkable. Last December we brought are son to you for an operation to correct his foot's tarsal coalition problem. From a young age he would complain of the pain in his foot after sports. As he hit the teens the pain would occur during day to day walking around. As he grew the situation would have become worse. Your skill and procedure corrected the foot with a bone graph and a seperation of bones. Today he has 100% mobility. And to think, before finding you we visit many doctors that simply said our son would have to simply live with the pain or fuse the ankle.

This man is a phenomenal surgeon, and a great human being...he operated on my daughter 24 years ago, and she has been able to live a normal life because of his expertise. She had a severe case of *club foot*, and he operated at 12 months on her...She never needed another surgery...and I thank God for him. Now she's a mama, and living a full life...:) He actually showed up at the hospital to check on her on Christmas day, and brought her a gift...God bless him!!!! :)

Dr Mosca is about to preform surgery on my foot i am thirteen years old and never relized that someone i just met could have such a great impact on me.. i would recommend him to any one who is looking in the direction of orthopedic surgery
-
I had a tarsal colition, and had constint foot pain. Dr. Mosca was amazing. I would recommend him to anyone. I am getting ready to have my second surgery to fix my deformity. He makes me feel at ease and he knows what he is doing.
-
I would recommend Dr. Mosca. Even though I never got my chance to get my surgery done my him, I'm getting surgery done by Dr. Michael Thomas, and he says Dr. Mosca is his Mentor, and the best surgeon in the country.
-
I would like to thank Dr. Mosca and all the outstanding staff at the Seattle Children's Hospital. Just last week my wife and I traveled from New Mexico to Seattle to have our 13 year old son's foot re-constucted (tarsal coalition). The surgery went well and we are looking forward to a fast recovery and for our son to gain back some mobility in his foot along with a decrease in his daily pain. Our fingers are crossed that things work out better then we expect. I should add the fact that we looked accross the country for the best doctor to help with our cause- Hands Down- Dr. Mosca is the man. Michael Lee

Dr. Mosca has treated me since i was born in 1986. I was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta (aka Brittle Bones). Dr. Mosca has treated every single broken bone from Left Arm to Both Legs throughout my entire life. I trust him with my life. You will NOT get a better Orthopedic Surgeon in the world. He is THE VERY Best.
-
Dr. Mosca has performed many surgeries over several years on my granddaughter. He is a brilliant surgeon AND a nice guy. I agree that he has a special way with the kids, always keeping them front and center in discussions regarding them. Helping them to feel in control of their situations. We are very grateful to him and all the help and relief he has provided her. We recently had our last (for-see-able) appointment and when we left, she began crying. I thought they were tears of joy, but they were tears of sadness on how she'll miss him. That's saying something for a teenager!
-
Dr. Mosca has diagnosed and seen my son through Legg Calve Perthes disease. He did a Varius Osteotomy July 2010. He is an amazing surgeon with incredible talent and passion for what he does. We might be having more surgeries but I have full faith that Dr. Mosca will do what is best for my son. We are so lucky to have him at Seattle Childrens!
-
Dr. Mosca treated my son for complex (or atypical) clubfoot. His conservative approach, open-mindedness, and unwillingness to give up lead to hugely successful treatment of something that can be very difficult to correct. I strongly recommend Dr. Mosca for any child with clubfoot. I cannot think of a more skilled and caring ortho doctor!
-
Dr. Mosca will look you in the eye while REALLY answering questions. He is friendly and knows how to talk to my 4-year-old daughter who has been seeing him since she was almost 2. He gives realistic prognosis and is not afraid to express optimism! My daughter and I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Mosca!
-
Dr. Mosca is an OUTSTANDING doctor!! When our son was born with clubfoot in 2005, my husband contacted Dr. Ponseti in Iowa who recommended we visit Dr. Mosca for a treatment plan. We did, and he's been great to work with! The Ponseti Method of non-surgical correction was wonderful. Even though we have since moved away from the greater Seattle area, we still go to Dr. Mosca for follow-up visits. He is an amazing person with great knowledge and experience. I HIGHLY recommend him to anyone seeking expertise in orthopedics.
-
My son Sean, was born with Arthrogryposis 26 years ago. Dr Mosca has performed many surgeries on his feet over the years. He has always been very kind to us, and patient with our many questions and has taken time to explain every detail. He and his nurse Sue have graciously addressed several of our needs regarding Sean, even into his adult years. I appreciate the genuine concern they have, and continue to have for their patients!
-
dr mosca, was my doctor from 1981-2002 he was a great and friendly doctor! I Only wish now i could still have him as my doctor! i highly reccomend him!!!!!
-
DR. MOSCA DID BONE SURGERY ON MY GRANDSON WHO HAD TARSAL COALITION AND THE SURGERY WENT WELL. I AM VERY PLEASED. HIS TEAM WAS SO PATIENT WITH OUR FAMILY AND EXPLAINING THE SURGERY AND THE OUTCOME AND THE RISKS AND EVERYTHING. THE ONLY THING AT THE HOSPITAL WAS WHEN WE WERE LEAVING AND THE INSURANCE WOULDNT COVER A WALKER AND A WHEELCHAIR BUT EVEN THEN I CALLED UP FAMILY ADVOCATES AND WAS REFERRED TO BRIDGEMINISTRIES WHO SUPPLIED US A FREE WALKER AND A WHEELCHAIR. I WILL BE SCHEDULING ANOTHER APPOINTMENT FOR FOLLOW UP WITH MOSCA FOR MY GRANDSON THANKS MOSCA! WE LOVE YOU
