Dr. Sara Rasmussen joined Seattle Children’s and University of Washington School of Medicine in May of 2020. She previously practiced at University of Virginia where she had completed a Abdominal Transplant Surgery Fellowship in 2015. Prior to that, she completed a Pediatric Surgery Fellowship in 2011 at Johns Hopkins. During her tenure at University of Virginia, Dr. Rasmussen was advanced to Associate Professor and also leads the Pediatric Abdominal Transplant Program. She most recently served on the UNOS (United Network for Organ Sharing) Pediatric Transplant Committee and is a member of the National Liver Review Board.
Dr. Rasmussen’s research interests include pediatric tumor and transplant. She has collaborated as Co-Investigator in NIH-funded research examining Human Endogenous Retroviruses as well as funded projects in Innovation in Undergraduate Medical Education.
Dr. Rasmussen is excited to bring her expertise and leadership experience to Seattle Children’s, where she will serve as Surgical Director, Pediatric Liver Transplantation.
