  • J. Russell Geyer, MD, is Professor of Pediatrics at Seattle Childrens Hospital and adjunct professor in the Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Washington School of Medicine.

    • Wilbert Bellevue, WA 06.06.19

When our 17 month old was diagnosed with a 4-5cm Glioblastoma, Dr. Geyer took us under his care. He has been treating our son for 10 years now, and I have nothing but praise for him. He explains us everything, took our ideas serious. And our kids love him. I hope whomever runs into a similar situation, you get assigned the likes of Dr. Geyer - he is awesome and our hero.

    • Heather Redmond, WA 07.10.13

Dr. Geyer was the Oncologist on-call when our daughter was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma at 9 months old. She had lost all neurologic function below the waist, which was an emergent situation. Dr. Geyer moved from MRI, Diagnosis and treatment so rapidly; it was really impressive. Within hours we were checked into a room and my daughter was receiving her first dose of chemo. Nothing ever prepares you to hear that your child has cancer, but Dr. Geyer handled himself with such professionalism, kindness and compassion. He helped answer our immediate questions and let us know how the process would work along with who our doctors and nurses would be. I am so grateful that he reacted so quickly and with such urgency for our daughter.

    • Wilbert Bellevue, WA 09.13.12

Dr. Geyer is awesome. And Cory too. Our son was diagnosed (Glioblastoma Multiforme) when he was 17 months old, and he was lucky that Dr. Geyer took him (well us) under his wing as him primary oncologist. Dr. Geyer always gave us the impression that he would fight for Niels' life, and that we were part of it, always super friendly, super clear, and always taking our floods of questions seriously. Seriously, I don't know what more we could have wished for in his medical team. More than 3 years later, Niels is alive & happy, and the tumor seems to be gone from the MRIs.

    • Kendra Ronan, MT 10.08.11

Dr Geyer and Nurse, Cory, embodied the best of medicine in through my son Hudson's fight with a brain tumor. Their compassionate communication and management of cutting edge treatments empowered us to make the best of a heart breaking situation. I give credit to the staff at Childrens' in Seattle for the cherished extra time we were able to spend with Hudson. The cares we received inspired me to go on to nursing school after our loss. I am now an Obstetrics and Medical/Surgical R.N. in our local facility, caring for laboring moms, thier infants, and a lifespan of surgical patients. The team went over and above the call of duty to be deeply instrumental in our treatment, continued healing as we "pay it forward".

    • Tanya Richland, WA 03.15.11

Dr. Geyer was our son Aidan's Oncologist during his 2 1/2 year battle with DIPG. His knowledge and care of Aidan went above and beyond what was required of him. He managed to always be truthful and compassionate with the information and decisions that were given to us. We will never be able to thank him and his team enough for the care they gave to Aidan until the end. He will always be one of Aidan's Angels!

    • Jon Ketchikan 01.19.11

Dr. Geyer is awesome. He is very friendly, and extremely knowledgeable in his field. I am so glad to have had Dr. Geyer in my life. If it weren't for him, who know if I'd be here.
