We study the effects of genetic changes on mitochondrial function. Our primary work is in the nematode C. elegans. However, we are extending our studies to the effects of anesthetics on mitochondrial function in humans. We are also studying the mechanism of action of volatile anesthetics. These studies also focus on the genetic control of anesthetic sensitivity using the nematode C. elegans.
