Dr. Mercado is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Washington. She sees patients and performs surgery for a variety of pediatric eye conditions, including amblyopia, refractive error, strabismus, nasolacrimal duct obstruction, and pediatric cataract at Seattle Children’s Hospital.
She earned her bachelor’s degree at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She completed her medical degree at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She completed her residency at Stanford University’s Byers Eye Institute in Palo Alto, California and her sub-specialty fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at the Casey Eye Institute of Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon.
Her research interests include global health in ophthalmology and implementation of new technologies in medical education. Dr. Mercado is a member of various professional organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.
