Thank you for your generous offer and interest to help us with a day of service. It is through individuals and volunteer groups that we are able to provide positive experiences, directly or indirectly, that promote a child’s ability to cope with their healthcare experience and make their hospital stay more enjoyable. Thank you for thinking of our patients and inquiring about ways that you can help. Here are some options for your group to consider.

  • Small Group Activity. Based on a number of selected spots, small groups under five people (18 years and older) can provide and assist in a craft activity during one of our playroom sessions. Since much of our daily programming allows ample craft and play opportunities, we welcome your creativity in proposing a visit which will provide our patients with a unique and memorable activity. This opportunity is coordinated through our Child Life Department
  • Ground Maintenance for Large Groups. Seattle Children’s is committed to providing a healing environment for patients and visitors, including awakening the senses through the cultivation of a lush landscape across the hospital grounds. More than 2,000 species and varietals of trees and plants thrive on our grounds. Just like our patients, these plants and trees are diverse – some are very rare. Up to 20 people can help assist our grounds staff with various projects surrounding the main campus of the hospital.
  • Host a Toy Drive or Make Items to Donate. Groups can enjoy working together making an item from our handmade items brochure (PDF) or by collecting and donating items from our wish list. One item we have a great need for is blankets. Blankets bring much comfort and are often a cherished item. We repeatedly hear stories where they are kept for years as a keepsake. It is our goal that each child who is admitted to the hospital overnight will receive one. We are far from meeting that goal.
