Children's Circle of Care Basics
Children's Circle of Care is an annual-giving program and major-gifts club. Individuals, couples or family foundations who contribute $10,000 or more in a calendar year become members of the Children's Circle of Care.
The Children's Circle of Care was founded in 1995 by Children's Hospital and 19 of its peer pediatric institutions throughout North America. The mission of the program is to advance philanthropy that supports patient care, teaching and research.
The program advocates, educates and encourages leading benefactors to participate in children's hospitals throughout the nation.
Those who join Children's Circle of Care become members of an exclusive and growing network of benefactors, who, through their generous support, are changing the face of pediatric care and ensuring its accessibility to critically ill children and their families.
Benefits of membership
Benefits of membership include invitations to prominent local and national education and social programs each year, such as the North American Leadership Conference and Gala Dinner.
A distinguished leader in such fields as philanthropy, public affairs, healthcare or entertainment serves as the honorary chair of Children's Circle of Care.
Past honorary chairs have included First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton, Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien and Madame Aline Chretien, President George W. and Mrs. Laura Bush and Oprah Winfrey, among others.
Leadership conference and gala dinner
The Leadership Conference is an education program that showcases the work of three outstanding physicians selected from among the Children's Circle of Care hospitals who present the highlights of their work in research and patient care.
A keynote speech by a prominent philanthropist makes known the collective influence of the Children's Circle of Care members and the impacts their contributions are making at the local level.
The gala dinner is a time for recognizing the contributions of Children's Circle of Care members. The dinners are made memorable by exclusive performances by some of Hollywood's and Broadway's leading stars.
Locally, Children's hosts a special evening event for Children's Circle of Care members at one of the city's most popular public venues or at private residences. These intimate gatherings have fueled a camaraderie that revolves around donors' passions for Children's and children.
How to contribute
Your Children's Circle of Care gift can be contributed in a variety of ways. Though it is often easiest to contribute cash, greater tax benefit might be achieved through gifts of appreciated property, such as stocks, bonds or real estate.
In addition, if the charitable portion of your deferred gift totals $10,000 or more, you qualify for Circle of Care membership. Popular deferred gift plans include charitable annuities, charitable remainder trusts, life insurance and our pooled income fund.
