Center for Developmental Therapeutics

|

Our Vision

From studies of childhood diseases and child development, we will learn fundamental mechanisms and principles that can be translated into improvements in the health of children.

The Center

Children are not simply small adults, yet many treatments used in children are based on studies conducted only in adults. The primary goal of the work in our center is to identify and develop new drugs and treatments that will be safer and more effective for children.

Our approach to research is designed to begin at the bedside and move full circle, from bedside to bench to bedside.

In this approach, important clinical issues are used to formulate hypotheses that are studied to define molecular mechanisms of the effects observed. In turn, critical research findings are translated into clinical practice and child health policies.
