Healing children through innovation and discovery. We will restore children's health after injury through repair, regeneration or replacement of tissues, cells and organs.
The Center
By understanding the body's response at the molecular, cellular, tissue and whole-organ levels, researchers at the Center for Developmental Biology and Regenerative Medicine are developing innovative therapeutic interventions that will ultimately help the body repair itself. The knowledge gained from the center's investigations is applied toward finding ways to heal damage caused by childhood developmental abnormalities and acquired illnesses, such as chronic kidney disease, heart disease, asthma and craniofacial malformations.
Center Research Areas
The center's research spans the following areas:
- Tissue inflammation and fibrosis. Molecular regulation of tissue responses to illness or trauma.
- Stem cell biology and regenerative medicine. Tissue engineering and cellular reprogramming.
- Developmental biology. Origin and repair of developmental abnormalities and solid organ transplantation.
