Are there fees for service?

 Yes. Please e-mail the clinical research budget analysts in the Office of Sponsored Research or call 206-884-5617 for fee structure details.

What are the hours of operation?

 The Research Specimen Processing Laboratory (RSPL) is staffed Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. After hours, the lab is accessible with a badge to research staff who have completed RSPL orientation.

What types of services are provided?

The RSPL staff is trained in various processing techniques from simple spinning to white blood cell isolation, as well as specimen collection from the operating room and handling of fresh and frozen tissue.

RSPL staff does not analyze specimens but can process and transport your specimens to reference and testing labs.

What supplies are provided?
  • Safety equipment, such as gloves, goggles and disposable lab coats
  • Shipping materials, such as shipping containers, labels, tape, dry ice and related packing supplies and materials
  • Processing materials, such as pipettes, labels and cryovials (subject to availability)

How much of the lab manual do I need to provide?

Please provide the entire lab manual to the RSPL. Hard copies can be sent via interoffice mail to A-8920.

How will I know when my application is approved?

After reviewing the application, processing and/or shipping instructions, the RSPL will contact you either in person, via e-mail, phone or in the context of the study's Protocol Implementation Meeting (PIM).

After all remaining issues are clarified, you will receive an e-mail confirming the RSPL's readiness to assist.
