The Radiology Clinical Research Imaging Core (RCRIC) provides the organizational infrastructure to support research imaging activities. Work conducted by the RCRIC team facilitates a broad range of services for investigators with sponsored research imaging needs. Services include radiology imaging in diagnostic (plain films), dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA), computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), nuclear medicine (NM), ultrasound (US) and selective interventional procedures.
RCRIC’s services include:
- Modality-specific consulting
- Formalized imaging protocol development assistance
- Oversight and guidance on budgetary planning
- Integration with IRB applications and related items
- Comprehensive research imaging exam build/set-up
- Customized radiology research requisition template
- Data acquisition oversight
- Assistance to insure accurate and compliant billing
Research projects are assessed a one-time administrative start-up fee for RCRIC services. Fees are based on the type of imaging modality to be used and the project complexity. See the RCRIC fee structure (PDF) for more information.
RCRIC provides investigators and study teams with a no-charge initial consultation upon request to discuss project-related imaging services and to answer questions. Please email your request for an initial consult.
To initiate the formal process for requesting radiology imaging services for a research study, please note the following:
- Complete all sections of the Radiology Set-Up Form (DOC).
- Email the completed form to RCRIC.
- Applications will be reviewed weekly by the RCRIC team. Following review (within approximately 1½ weeks after receipt), the principal investigator or designated research contact will be notified via email with confirmation of project acceptance for requested services, or with queries on unresolved issues requiring further action or review.
- Once the project specific imaging services are finalized, the Radiology Set-Up Form will serve to initiate study system set-up, protocol confirmation and creation of a customized radiology research requisition for exam ordering purposes that will be provided to the investigator or designated contact.
RCRIC is based within the Department of Radiology on Seattle Children’s main campus. RCRIC team members can be reached via email at Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For questions or more information, please email or contact the radiology research business manager at 206-987-2249.
