Children's Core for Biomedical Statistics

Seattle Children’s Core for Biomedical Statistics (CCBS) has an expanded partnership with the University of Washington through the Seattle Center for Biomedical Statistics (CBS), a core unit of the Institute of Translational Health Sciences (ITHS). As part of the CBS team, Children’s biostatisticians provide an array of consultation and biostatistical services, from the initial design stage to the final reporting phase, for researchers at Children’s, the University of Washington and other local research institutes. This partnership provides Seattle Children’s researchers with access to a broad network of biostatistical expertise from both Children’s and the University of Washington.

Children’s Core for Biomedical Statistics (CCBS) currently offers assistance with proposal and manuscript review, as well as with:

Grant proposal development/study design

  • Randomization and blinding
  • Sample size determination/power calculations
  • Sampling plan development
  • Statistical methods/analysis plan development

Data management

  • Electronic data capture
  • High-dimensional data storage

Data analysis

  • Data quality control (e.g., screening data for errors and inconsistencies)
  • Implementation of statistical methods
  • Guidance for interpretation of statistical results
  • Graphics creation
