Description of Research:

The focus of our research is developing improved mechanical extracorporeal life support systems (ECLS). Combined with optimized clinical management protocols, improved ECLS circuit designs provide increased clinical flexibility and patient safety. Current projects include system enhancements that enable decreased anticoagulation, reduced circuit size, and elimination of unnecessary components. Additionally, we are focusing on alternative methods of care provider education to increase quality assurance.
