Therapy Pool
Services Offered
- Adapted aquatics for kids with special needs
- Aquatic therapy for both inpatients and outpatients (therapy is scheduled
through the physical/occupational therapy department)
- Community adult programs
- Employee swim
- Family recreational swimming
- Swim instruction for small children
Description of pool:
- Fifteen yards in length
- Range between two and five feet in depth
- Average water temperature 93 degrees
- Equipped with a chair lift, a hoyer lift and adaptive flotation devices
- Recreational tools and a movable elevated platform
Programs:
- Patient and Family Recreational Swim: provides consented inpatients
and/or their families a chance to use the pool for fun, relaxation and
exercise. Consented outpatients and their families may use the Patient
and Family Recreational swim on day of an appointment.
- Adapted Aquatics program provides one-to-one instruction for kids
with special needs. Helps kids gain water safety skills and experience
with locker rooms, pool decks and pool rules in a quiet, calm environment.

- The popular evening swim lesson program provides instruction for ages
six months through five years. Brochures detailing program are available
from the pool office.
- Children undergoing chemotherapy may use the pool with doctor's consent.
They must meet the guidelines posted on the pool office window.
- Adult community members are also encouraged to use the pool for their
exercise routine. This requires a physician's release and a small fee
for participation.
- Employees may use the pool Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 12:30-1:30 p.m.
Watsu is available for consented patients and inpatient parents. The Therapy
Pool can accommodate children with complex medical needs.
All persons using the therapy pool require a signed consent form before
entering the pool. Please see your nurse or the pool staff for details.
