Social Work

Social workers provide specialized support services to children and families. We are members of inpatient and outpatient clinic medical teams. Our expertise and training focus on the impact that hospitalization and illness has on the family.

All of our social workers are Master's level (MSW) practitioners, clinically licensed and certified within two years of employment.

Services Offered

  • Comprehensive psychosocial assessment of family strengths and needs:
    • Evaluation of family support system
    • Education regarding hospital systems and access to health care
    • Referrals to community resources
    • Development of a psychosocial plan
  • Crisis intervention for patients and families
  • Short-term counseling:
    • Adjustment to illness
    • Decision making
    • Bereavement
  • Advocacy for patients and families
  • Access to community and agency referrals
  • Family violence assessments
  • Long-term bereavement follow-up through the Journey Program
  • Discharge evaluation regarding the impact on family
  • Bilingual case managers, Spanish and Vietnamese
