Financial Assistance

Need Help Paying Your Children's Health Care Bills?

The Children's Financial Assistance Program may be able to help you with your Children's bills - even if you have insurance.

To apply for Children's financial assistance before, during or after your child's care at Children's, fill out the application form (PDF 68KB) [en español (PDF 289KB)].

Our financial assistance is for medically necessary services. It is based on family income and hospital resources and is provided to children under age 21 whose primary residence is in Washington, Alaska, Montana or Idaho.

The Children's Financial Assistance Program is not a form of insurance. It only helps with health care bills from Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center, Children's Home Care Services, Children's University Medical Group and Odessa Brown Children's Clinic.

For those who qualify, we offer:

  • Financial assistance for Children's health care bills that insurance doesn't cover
  • Catastrophic financial assistance for part of your balance, based on your income (if you have very large hospital bills)
  • 100 percent financial assistance (also known as charity care)

We also offer these options. Call (866) 987-5770 toll-free to find out more or sign up:

  • Interest-free Payment Plan - We can help you work out a monthly payment plan. You do not need to fill out any applications
  • Self-pay Discount - We offer a 25 percent discount on our health care services if you:
    • Are a U.S. resident
    • Do not have an insurer who will be paying any part of the bill

Our financial counselors can also help you with these possible sources of financial assistance:

  • Medicaid - Medicaid or state medical assistance can often pay for part or all of your child's health care expenses, even if you are not eligible for other forms of aid from the state. Medicaid can also help pay for health care bills from other providers besides Children's. In some cases, you may be required to apply for Medicaid before you are eligible for Children's financial assistance
  • Community Health Access Program (CHAP) - If you live in Washington, a staff person from CHAP may contact you regarding state programs
