The ethics committee and ethics consultation services help in the assessment and resolution of situations in which ethical issues arise and require thoughtful consideration.
Our service has a staff trained in ethics consultation in a proactive fashion when different ethical decisions should be encouraged. We recommend ethics consultation when conflicts between care providers and patient/family cannot be comfortably resolved.
Any staff member, patient or family member may request an ethics consultation.
The Ethics Committee is not a decision-making body. If disagreement continues after an ethics consultation, we may refer the provider or family to the full ethics committee for review and consultation.
