"The word orthopedics means straight child. As a pediatric orthopedic surgeon, I have the training and opportunity to straighten childrens arms and legs that are crooked and deformed because those limbs were made wrong, grew wrong, or were injured. My work is immensely satisfying, because it improves childrens comfort and function, allowing them to live more productive, normal lives."

Dr. Vincent Mosca is a Professor in the Department of Orthopedics at the University of Washington School of Medicine and an academic full-time pediatric orthopedic surgeon at Seattle Childrens Hospital. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Duke University Medical Center in North Carolina, and then did a 1 year fellowship in pediatric orthopedics at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada before starting his practice in Seattle. Approximately 70% of his clinical work and most of his publications and lectures pertain to the understanding of, and treatment for, deformities of the childs foot. Dr. Mosca has authored or coauthored 29 articles, 26 book chapters, and 4 monographs. He has been an invited guest speaker/visiting professor in more than 90 medical centers and orthopedic conferences in the US, and in 36 orthopedic conferences in 21 countries outside the US. His lectures and publications on the assessment and management principles for foot deformities in children and adolescents have organized this complex information in a format that has made it the standard for understanding and treating foot deformities in children. Dr. Mosca is the immediate past Chairman of the Education Council for the Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America, and on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Pediatric Orthopedics (USA) and the Journal of Childrens Orthopaedics (Europe). He is listed in 12 national/international Whos Who directories and has been listed in the book, The Best Doctors in America, since 1996. Dr. Mosca was the Director of the Department of Orthopedics at Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center, and the Chief of Pediatric Orthopedics at the University of Washington in Seattle for 13 years. He stepped down from his administrative responsibilities 8 years ago to devote more time to research and writing, while maintaining his very busy clinical practice.

Dr. Mosca is an OUTSTANDING doctor!! When our son was born with clubfoot in 2005, my husband contacted Dr. Ponseti in Iowa who recommended we visit Dr. Mosca for a treatment plan. We did, and he's been great to work with! The Ponseti Method of non-surgical correction was wonderful. Even though we have since moved away from the greater Seattle area, we still go to Dr. Mosca for follow-up visits. He is an amazing person with great knowledge and experience. My son Sean, was born with Arthrogryposis 26 years ago. Dr Mosca has performed many surgeries on his feet over the years. He has always been very kind to us, and patient with our many questions and has taken time to explain every detail. DR. MOSCA DID BONE SURGERY ON MY GRANDSON WHO HAD TARSAL COALITION AND THE SURGERY WENT WELL. I AM VERY PLEASED. HIS TEAM WAS SO PATIENT WITH OUR FAMILY AND EXPLAINING THE SURGERY AND THE OUTCOME AND THE RISKS AND EVERYTHING. THE ONLY THING AT THE HOSPITAL WAS WHEN WE WERE LEAVING AND THE INSURANCE WOULDNT COVER A WALKER AND A WHEELCHAIR BUT EVEN THEN I CALLED UP FAMILY ADVOCATES AND WAS REFERRED TO BRIDGEMINISTRIES WHO SUPPLIED US A FREE WALKER AND A WHEELCHAIR.
