"Working in the ICU at Seattle Children's Hospital is such an incredible privilege. From the "routine" postoperative admissions to the children with life-threatening infections, our attention to details and careful application of state-of-the-art care for children allow us the opportunity to give those children the best possible second chance in life."

  • Biography

Lincoln Smith, MD, is attending physician at Seattle Childrens Hospital and Harborview Medical Center and assistant professor of pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine. He is the Program Director of the Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Fellowship. He earned his MD at the University of Wisconsin, in Madison, and completed his pediatrics residency at Childrens Hospital of Buffalo where he served as chief resident. Smith completed his pediatric critical care fellowship training at Seattle Childrens, and he is board certified in general pediatrics and pediatric critical care medicine.

Smiths laboratory research is at the Pulmonary Research Laboratories at Veterans Administration Puget Sound Medical Center in Seattle. Smith is investigating the role of lung development in ventilator-induced lung injury. He is focusing on molecular mechanisms by which juvenile mice are protected from synergistic inflammatory and injurious interactions between activation of innate immunity and mechanical ventilation in adult mice.
