Hematology-Oncology

On staff since April 2009

Children's Title: Director, Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplant Program and Cancer Survivor Program

Academic Title: Professor of Pediatrics

Research Center: Center for Clinical and Translational Research

"As a physician involved in the field of blood and marrow transplantation, I have the opportunity to offer patients and parents hope for the cure of many potentially life-threatening diseases — both malignant and nonmalignant. That fact, along with the intensity of transplant as a treatment, creates a strong bond between physician and patient. The reward for doing this comes many years later, when I receive a high-school or college graduation announcement and realize that what I did gave that person a chance for life."

I absolutely adore Dr.Baker. We were very sad as a family to have lost him as our physician but realized that his expertise and commitment were needed in other areas as well. He was our primary physician during 2 BMT's for our oldest daughter and she is doing remarkably well!! He is very knowledgeable, stays on top of the latest research and is very caring. The team at Seattle Children's Hospital is very lucky to have him on board. Yalonda Tate
