"To name something is to gain power over it. As a pathologist, this is the service I provide to my colleagues and patients every day. Although often behind the scenes, as a specialist in pediatric cancer my diagnoses directly affect treatment. My research focus is on pediatric sarcomas, specifically, to improve diagnostic testing in order to provide personalized medicine to every patient. As a pathology reviewer for the Children's Oncology Group, I have been involved in improving risk stratification for rhabdomyosarcoma. And my current passion project is improved identification of infantile soft tissue sarcomas with NTRK rearrangements. I look forward to seeing how these changes and other advances in diagnostic pathology continue to help patients in the future."
