Srinath Sanda, M.D. is an attending physician in Endocrinology at Seattle Children's Hospital. He is also an Assistant Clinical Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine and Assistant Member at the Benaroya Research Institute.

Dr. Sanda sees patients with all types of endocrine disorders including adrenal, calcium, pituitary, and thyroid disorders. In addition he sees children and adolescents with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Dr. Sanda's laboratory research focuses on the immunology of type 1 diabetes with an emphasis on the role of the IL-1 beta pathway in beta cell dysfunction. In addition, he is a clinical investigator on many large, multi-center clinical trials using new immune modulating therapies for patients with type 1 diabetes.

Research Description: My research focuses on studying how inflammation and autoimmunity affect insulin secretion in patients with type 1 diabetes. To that end, I am conducting both bench and clinical experiments that investigate the affects of cytokines and cell signalling proteins. In addition, I am an investigator on many multi-center interventional studies that seek to use new methods of immune modulation to preserve insulin secretion in patients with type 1 diabetes.
