Endocrinology

On staff since October 2007

Research Center: Center for Clinical and Translational Research

"The best part of my work is helping a child and family understand their endocrine disorder. Endocrinology can be quite complex and confusing, since the body’s hormonal system affects so many facets of a child’s growth and development. Helping children and their families understand what’s going on and what treatment options are available is immensely satisfying. I can’t think of a better reason to come to work."

We are so thrilled with Dr. Sanda. Feel like we landed under a lucky star. With diabetes things go up and down and Dr. Sanda is supportive of the frustrations, helpful and always willing to take the time to try to help us get things working better for our son. He is a wonderful provider!

Research Description

My research focuses on studying how inflammation and autoimmunity affect insulin secretion in patients with type 1 diabetes. To that end, I am conducting both bench and clinical experiments that investigate the affects of cytokines and cell signalling proteins. In addition, I am an investigator on many multi-center interventional studies that seek to use new methods of immune modulation to preserve insulin secretion in patients with type 1 diabetes.
