"I believe that we can make a great Emergency Department even better. Parents come to the ED because they have an urgent concern about their child. I love Childrens "continuous performance improvement" approach because it focuses on what families value timely, high-quality care and an opportunity to get their concerns addressed by our outstanding medical providers. I come to work each day because I love spending time at the bedside with patients and their families. I want to make sure that all of our providers have the resources they need to do the same thing 24 hours a day and 365 days a year."

  • Biography

    Russell T. Migita, MD, is an attending physician and is the Clinical Director of Emergency Services at Seattle Childrens Hospital. He is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine. He earned his MD from the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. He completed his internship, residency and fellowship at the University of Washington.

    Dr. Migita is board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Emergency Medicine and is a PALS provider and instructor. He is a Fellow with the American Academy of Pediatrics. His special responsibilities include extensive work in Emergency Department and hospital Continuous Improvement initiatives. He is the Director of Education at the UW Medicine Center for Scholarship in Patient Care Quality and Safety. Dr. Migita has received the University of Washington Fellow Teaching Award. His research interests include patient safety, quality improvement, and the application of lean manufacturing principles to improve health care delivery and quality.
