Clinical Interests

My clinical interests include neonatal, infant and pediatric cardiac surgery. I have been interested in global delivery of cardiac surgery in underdeveloped countries and specfically in Pakistan. We were able to develop adult cardiac surgical services in the rural setting for the first time in Pakistan in 2007. Since the establishement of the program, approximately 1500 hundred procedures have been carried out. We took this inititaive forward with establishement of congenital cardiac surgery services over the past three years and operating on approximately 200 cases through medical missions.

Research Description

I am currently collaborating with the Portman Research Group at the Seattle Children's Research Institute understanding substrate metabolism and ultilization in the right ventricular myocardium under periods of stress and cardiopulmonary bypass
