"As a research health psychologist, I am interested in understanding more about what predicts successful outcomes in youth with diabetes. I find it inspiring to hear about patients who rise above daily struggles and succeed not only in their diabetes management but also in academics, activities and social relationships. Thus, my work explores the personal resources that define “resilience” in those who successfully manage the hardships of growing up with diabetes and thrive. By understanding those patients who are “resilient” to the stressors of living with diabetes, we can tailor interventions to bolster the resources in those who need it."
