Overview

Research Description

My research group is interested on the inflammatory fibrotic process that leads to End Stage Renal Disease. We have particular interest in understanding the role of cytokines; particularly we focus on the IL-6 family of genes. The genes in this family are involved in regulating many other genes in response to inflammation and fibrosis. Because they are ubiquitously express in many cell types, we use Cre-flox mice to compartmentalize the expression effect of these genes in this particular milieu. We are interested on transcription and micro-RNA regulation of these genes in response to injury.
