Ikuyo Yamaguchi, MD, PhD, is an attending physician at Seattle Children’s and an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine. She earned her MD from Kumamoto University and her PhD from Kurume University in Japan.
Dr. Yamaguchi completed her pediatric training at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, D.C. and her pediatric nephrology fellowship at Seattle Children’s. As a clinician-scientist working in basic science research she is focusing on angiogenic factors such as placental growth factor and vascular endothelial cadherin (the major adhesion molecule at the adherens junctions between endothelial cells), investigating how these factors affect the progression of chronic kidney disease. Her clinical interests include hypertension and chronic kidney disease in children and she works in the hypertension clinic with Dr. Joseph Flynn and regional clinics in Everett, WA.
