Dena R. Brownstein, MD, is an attending physician at Seattle Children’s Hospital and associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine. She is the associate medical director for patient safety at Settle Children’s. She received her MD from the University of Washington, completing her residency at Seattle Children’s and a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
She is board certified in general pediatrics and pediatric emergency medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics, and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). Brownstein is coordinator of the Seattle Children’s pediatric internship for paramedic students and director of the paramedic course. She was a co-editor of the AAP’s national pediatric EMS curriculum, Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals (PEPP). Brownstein is the recipient of numerous awards, including the University of Washington Outstanding Public Service Award. She is certified in ACLS and ATLS, and is a PALS and PEPP instructor
