    Children with heart diseases should not play competitive sports. Yet young athletes with inherited heart conditions often go undiagnosed, and can die unexpectedly during practice or a game. Children's experts recommend watching out for warning signs such as fainting during or after exercise, shortness or breath, seizures, or a family history of unexplained death at a young age.
