One Big KISS for Seattle Children’s Hospital Radiothon Raises Nearly $937,000

KISS 106.1 raised $936,990.39 for Seattle Children’s Hospital during its 9th annual “Jackie & Bender’s One Big KISS for Seattle Children’s Hospital Radiothon."

106.1 KISS FM (KBKS,) a Clear Channel Radio station, raised $936,990.39 for Seattle Children’s Hospital during its 9th annual “Jackie & Bender’s One Big KISS for Seattle Children’s Hospital Radiothon” which took place Feb. 24-25.

Radio hosts Jackie and Bender brought the stories of Children’s patients, families, staff and volunteers to their listeners across the region, who responded with generous donations.

"Wow, what an incredible 9th year for the Radiothon. Once again, Jackie and Bender have inspired their listeners to really dig deep and give to Children's even during these difficult economic times. They have helped Children's keep their promise to the community and provide world class health care regardless of a family’s ability to pay. They are amazing friends to the hospital," said Michele Smith, member, Seattle Children’s Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees.

Funds raised through the Radiothon will be used for Children’s greatest needs, allowing the hospital the flexibility to fund projects and programs that advance our mission to prevent, treat and eliminate pediatric disease - regardless of a family’s ability to pay. Children’s is an important part of the safety net for our region’s children. The combination of rising unemployment – with the accompanying loss of health insurance – and cuts to state services can be disastrous for families caring for a chronically ill child. The need for philanthropic support has never been greater.

"Can you believe it? In the face of one of the biggest recessions in recent memory, our community stepped up again,” said Bender, 106.1 KISS FM Morning Show co-host. “I can't thank everyone enough... really. Our individual donors, our corporate donors, small businesses and yes... even the kids who sold candy bars and hosted chili dinners to present big fake checks of their own! Jackie and I are extremely proud to host the Radiothon every year. Thank you, again, very much for participating. Start saving -we're doing it again next year!!"

Online donations will be accepted through the weekend at The need is still there. If you missed your chance to donate, make your gift this weekend online.

The Radiothon is presented by the John L. Scott Foundation. The Foundation is funded by the volunteer donations and efforts of John L. Scott sales associates and employees. The Foundation contributes to 18 children’s hospitals throughout the Pacific Northwest.
