'I Just Wanted to Hold Him Before He Died' - Four Month Premature Baby Given 0.5% Chance of Survival Makes Christmas Miracle Recovery

As little Grayson Barnett lay in a hospital incubator about the size of a hand, his chance of survival was almost nonexistent. He was transferred to Seattle Children's Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at five days old. “Dr. Maneesh Batra at the hospital told us an analogy that Grayson had a mountain to climb and at this point he was still in his room trying to find his shoes. He told us he needed to be able to eat and at that stage he would have his shoes on,” said his father Jeremy. “Grayson weathered so many challenges," said Dr. Maneesh Batra, Seattle Children’s and UW neonatologist. “The Barnetts are a really special family who chose to focus on finding the shoes rather than just the mountain. I love the idea of Grayson slipping on his shoes and going on to live the best life he can.”
