Dr. Charles Smith joined Seattle Children's Hospital two years ago. As Director of the Center for Developmental Therapeutics, Dr. Smith leads a diverse team of experts who are studying the mechanisms of childhood diseases, child development, and responses to therapeutic and environmental exposures, with the aim of translating their findings into safe and effective treatments and therapies for children. Dr. Smith has co-authored over 120 scientific journal publications and book chapters and over 300 abstracts for national and international scientific meetings, many of which were presented by the numerous clinician-scientists and other investigators Dr. Smith has mentored. Through his research, he is working to provide a rational foundation for the prevention and treatment of stillbirth and preterm birth and related problems.
