En ocasiones, cuando los médicos no están seguros de lo que ocurre con una parte de tu cuerpo, es posible que decidan realizar un examen que se denomina “biopsia”. Esto significa que quitan una parte pequeñísima y la miran en un microscopio. Una biopsia común es la de piel, pero los médicos también pueden realizar biopsias de prácticamente cualquier parte de tu cuerpo: de un músculo, de un pulmón o de un riñón. Las biopsias permiten que los médicos vean con mayor detalle lo que está ocurriendo dentro de tu cuerpo y los ayudan a realizar un diagnóstico para elegir el tratamiento adecuado. Para realizar una biopsia, el médico te dará un medicamento llamado “anestesia” que te hará sentir cómodo durante el procedimiento.
