Riñón

( Kidney )

Los riñones son dos órganos que se ubican a ambos lados de la columna, justo debajo de la caja torácica en la espalda. Los riñones se encargan de lo siguiente:

  • filtrar los desechos de la sangre y expulsarlos del cuerpo en forma de orina
  • regular la presión sanguínea y los niveles de agua, sales y minerales del cuerpo
  • producir hormonas que controlan otras funciones del cuerpo

Las personas que sufren de diabetes durante muchos años pueden tener problemas de riñón, en especial si la enfermedad no está bien controlada.
