Resistencia a la insulina

( Insulin Resistance )

Las personas con diabetes tipo 2 siguen produciendo insulina, pero el cuerpo no responde a esta hormona en forma normal y el páncreas no es capaz de generar suficiente insulina adicional como para revertir esta resistencia a la insulina. La resistencia a la insulina se produce cuando el cuerpo no puede responder bien a la insulina generada en el páncreas y la glucosa tiene más dificultades para entrar en las células. Las personas que sufren de resistencia a la insulina pueden desarrollar diabetes tipo 2 o no.
