La inmunoterapia, también conocida como "vacunas antialérgicas", es una forma de tratamiento para determinadas alergias. También puede resultar útil en algunos casos de asma en los cuales los síntomas son provocados por alergias y no se pueden aliviar con medicamentos o evitando los alérgenos (sustancias que provocan alergias). La inmunoterapia consiste en la aplicación de múltiples inyecciones de un alérgeno durante varios años. Lentamente, esto crea una tolerancia del organismo al alérgeno, lo cual significa que la reacción alérgica provocada por ese alérgeno en particular será menos grave.
