Bolus
(
Bolo
)
From the Greek word meaning "lump," the term bolus
describes a single, large dose of medication. For a person with
diabetes, a bolus is a dose of insulin taken to handle a rise in
blood glucose (a type of sugar), like the one that occurs when
eating. A bolus is given through an insulin pump.
