What Toys Can Help Improve a Baby's Motor Skills?

|

I want to give my 11-month-old son toys that will help his motor skills. Do you have any suggestions?
- Rebecca

Babies this age may be crawling, "cruising," walking, and grasping things all around them. To encourage exploration and stimulation, try giving him toys that have a cause and effect — for example, a toy with buttons that trigger different noises. Stacking rings, simple puzzles, blocks, and rolling balls are all toys he may enjoy, too. To encourage movement, try putting favorite toys just out of reach.

Remember to always check the recommended ages for each toy and inspect them for sharp parts and other potential hazards, such as small pieces a child could choke on.
