Medicamentos de alivio rápido

Los medicamentos de alivio rápido son medicinas para el asma que actúan rápidamente. Alivian la sibilancia, la tos y la falta de aire. La mayoría de los medicamentos de alivio rápido se inhalan y actúan relajando el músculo alrededor de las vías aéreas. Cuando los músculos se relajan, las vías respiratorias se dilatan y hacen que la entrada y salida del aire en los pulmones sea más fácil. Pero los medicamentos de alivio rápido no pueden evitar futuros ataques de asma y no suelen ser eficaces para mantener bajo control el asma de una persona. Para que las vías respiratorias se mantengan descongestionadas, también será necesario tomar medicamentos de control diariamente.
