Pioneering transplant surgeon, Dr. Jorge Reyes joined Seattle Children's and the University of Washington's School of Medicine in July 2004. Dr. Reyes leads the Division of Transplantation at the University of Washington's School of Medicine and performs pediatric transplant surgery at Seattle Children's Hospital. In Seattle, Dr. Reyes has developed a new small intestine transplant program and added live-donor liver transplants.
Dr. Reyes attended medical school in Brazil and trained at Harvard, New York Medical College and the University of Pittsburgh, where he worked with transplant pioneer Dr. Thomas Starzl. He established a world-class pediatric small intestine and liver transplant program at Pittsburgh Children's Hospital.
His research focuses on reducing transplant patients' dependence on anti-rejection drugs. His practice includes pediatric and adult transplant surgery (all abdominal organs) as well as complex hepatobiliary (liver), pancreatic and intestinal surgery.

Dr. Simon Horslen joined Seattle Children's Hospital in 2005 and is helping lead the expansion of Children's transplant program. He is a founding fellow of the Royal College of Pediatric and Child Health and is a member of the Royal College of Physicians. His clinical and research interests include metabolic liver disease, intestinal failure and liver and intestine transplant. Dr. Horslen is a member of the Hepatology Committee for the North American Society of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition and of the Cellular Transplant Committee for the American Society of Transplantation. He serves as co-chair of the Education Committee and member of the Nominations Committee for the International Pediatric Transplant Society. He is chairman of the UNOS Pediatric Liver Transplant Subcommittee and member of the Unified Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) Pediatric Committee and Liver & Intestine Committee.

Dr. Ruth McDonald joined Seattle Children's Hospital in 1993. She serves as co-director of outreach clinics in pediatric nephrology in Washington, Alaska and Montana. She serves as principal investigator in many multi-center research studies on pediatric renal transplantation. Currently she serves on the North American Pediatric Renal Trials and Cooperative Studies Board of Directors and is chair of the Participating Centers Committee. Dr. McDonald has a special clinical interest in post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder and viral infections after transplant in all solid organ transplant recipients. She is an at-large member of the Children's University Medical Group Board of Directors and chairs the group's Clinical Practice Committee. Dr. McDonald is respected nationally as a leader in organ allocation policy development. She serves on the Unified Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) Kidney Committee and she is an elected member of the UNOS Board of Directors. Additionally she serves on the pediatric nephrology sub-board of the American Board of Pediatrics.
