Seattle Metropolitan: Top Doctors 2008

Aug. 1 – 107 members of Children’s medical staff were among the 333 local medical practitioners in 85 specialties recognized in this year’s Top Doctors list. Additionally, Drs. Jim Olson, Andrew Scharenberg, Mike McMullan and Colleen Delaney were featured in brief articles, highlighting their research and contribution towards “treatments of tomorrow.”

Since that moment we have ever-increasing access to information that grows with every newly available genetic test and each new understanding of the genetic underpinnings of disease and health. According to the bioethics community, a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing. The Treuman Katz Center for Pediatric Bioethics at Seattle Children’s Hospital recently hosted its fourth annual international pediatric bioethics conference in Seattle: “Predicting Our Future: Genetic Testing in Children and Their Families.”

Strong Hearts: Making medical difference around the world

Jul. 29 – Janey Pinneo, a registered nurse at Children’s Hospital, is one of roughly 2,200 volunteers for Medical Teams International, a faith-based nonprofit that sends medical professionals, supplies and training to people affected by disaster, poverty and war in 70 countries.
