Health Care

All major medical benefits are available to employees who are regularly scheduled to work 16 hours per week or more.

  • We pay 100 percent of the premiums for dependent children, up to their 23rd birthday
  • We offer coverage for domestic partners and their children
  • Benefits start the first of the month following 30 days of employment

Medical

Three medical plan options are available through Premera Blue Cross and one is available through Group Health Cooperative. Prescription Drug and vision benefits are available through the major medical plan you choose.

Financial

Life Insurance

Children’s pays for life and accidental death & dismemberment insurance which are each equal to your annual salary. Supplemental life insurance options are available for employees, dependents, spouses and domestic partners.

Long Term Disability (LTD)

Long term disability insurance is provided as income protection in the event you become unable to work due to disability for 90 days or more.

Retirement Plans

Children’s has two retirement plan options:

  1. Children’s Retirement Plan (401a)

    An account established after you have worked one year and 1000 hours. Full vesting is achieved after three such years. Employees have the option to contribute to the 401(a) plan after 45 days of service. Children’s will match 25 percent of the first 4 percent that employees contribute to the 401(a). Full vesting in the matching contribution is achieved after 3 years.

  2. Tax-sheltered Retirement Plan (403b)

    Although the 403(b) plan is not sponsored by Children’s, we provide payroll deduction and on-site meetings with representatives from the investment companies. The Tax-Sheltered retirement plan is a 100 percent voluntary employee contribution and available to all employees from their date of hire.

Flexible Spending Accounts

Health care and dependent care flexible spending accounts are available for your use. Flexible spending accounts help you lower your taxable income when paying for out-of-pocket medical and dependent care expenses.

Credit Union Membership

Children’s employees may become members of the GHCU Credit Union (formerly Group Health Credit Union). GHCU has a few options that are designed specifically for Children’s employees.

Time Away From Work

We have a generous Paid Time Off (PTO) plan. Accrual rates increase with your years of service. Paid Time Off accruals begin on the first day of employment with accrued time accessible upon date of hire.

Short Term Disability (STD)

Short Term Disability coverage is available when you miss scheduled workdays due to an illness or injury. This provides income protection for up to 90 calendar days, at which time your LTD benefit would go into effect.

Holidays

Children’s provides eight paid holidays each calendar year. In addition, employees are allotted one floating holiday annually. These holidays are included in your PTO accruals. (RN’s per contract).

Children’s has a variety of programs dedicated to caring for employees' well-being.

Live and Work Well

Live and work well is a free, confidential resource for help with any work or personal issues you may face. It is available to every member of every employee’s household for services ranging from personal crises to legal services to pet-sitting referrals.

Tuition Assistance

This program provides up to $5,000 per school year of financial support to employees who want to advance or develop their career opportunities within the hospital. Tuition Assistance is available to employees after 3000 hours of service which is eighteen months for full time employees.

Adoption Assistance

Children’s recognizes the benefit to a child's welfare when he or she is offered a permanent adoptive home. We support your decision to adopt an eligible child with a benefit of up to $2,500 for reimbursement of qualified adoption expenses.
