Benefits

When we ask you to do Your Life's Work at Children's we expect a lot.

Therefore, in order to attract and retain the best people, we must provide not only competitive salaries but the best benefits. In the same way we expect excellence from you, we'll provide you with the best support and resources available.

Health Care

All major medical benefits are available to employees who are regularly scheduled to work 16 hours per week or more.

  • We pay 100 percent of the premiums for dependent children
  • We offer coverage for domestic partners and their children
  • Benefits start the first of the month following 30 days of employment

Medical

Three medical plan options are available through Premera Blue Cross and one is available through Group Health Cooperative.

Dental

Three dental plan options are available through Washington Dental Service.

Prescriptions & Vision

Prescription drug and vision benefits are available through the major medical plan you choose.

Financial

Besides offering competitive salaries, Children's cares for your financial stability and security through a variety of resources.

Life Insurance

Children's pays for life and accidental death & dismemberment insurance which are each equal to your annual salary. Supplemental life insurance options are available for employees, dependents, spouses and domestic partners.

Long Term Disability (LTD)

Long term disability insurance is provided as income protection in the event you become unable to work due to disability for 90 days or more.

Retirement Plans

Children's has two retirement plan options:

  1. Children's Health System Retirement Plan (401a)
    An account established after you have worked one year and 1000 hours. Full vesting is achieved after five such years. Employees have the option to contribute to the 401(a) plan after 45 days of service. Children’s will match 25 percent of the first 4 percent that employees contribute to the 401(a). Full vesting in the matching contribution is achieved after 3 years
  2. Tax-sheltered Retirement Plan (403b)
    A 100 percent voluntary employee contribution and available to all employees from their date of hire

Flexible Spending Accounts

Health care and dependent care flexible spending accounts are available for your use. Flexible spending accounts help you lower your taxable income when paying for out-of-pocket medical and dependent care expenses.

Credit Union Membership

Children's employees may become members of the Group Health Credit Union.

Time Away From Work

We have a generous vacation and sick leave accrual system called Paid Time Off (PTO). Accrual rates increase with your years of service.

Benefits-eligible RNs receive Annual Leave as defined by the contract between Children's and Washington State Nursing Association (WSNA).

Paid Time Off (PTO)

Paid Time Off accruals begin on your first day of employment with accrued time accessible upon date of hire.

Short Term Disability (STD)

Short Term Disability coverage is available when you miss scheduled workdays due to an illness or injury. This potentially provides income protection for up to 90 calendar days, at which time your LTD benefit would go into effect.

Holidays

Children's provides eight paid holidays each calendar year. In addition, employees are allotted one floating holiday annually. These holidays are included in your PTO accruals. (RN’s per contract).

Children's has a variety of programs dedicated to caring for employees' well-being.

Live and Work Well

Live and Work Well is a free, confidential resource for help with any work or personal issues you may face. It is available to every member of every employee's household for services ranging from personal crises to legal services to pet-sitting referrals.

On-Site Child Care

Child Care is provided for the well children of our employees. Care for children ages 3 months to 5 years is available in a bright, safe and convenient environment.

Commuter Benefits

Best Workplaces for Commuters

Children's offers great commuting benefits and has been designated a Best Workplaces for Commuters by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Department of Transportation.

We start with personalized commuting assistance on your first day, and follow up with support and advice along the way - from free bus passes, to covered bike parking, to help finding a carpool partner.

Tuition Assistance

This program provides up to $5,000 per school year of financial support to employees who want to advance or develop their career opportunities within the hospital.

Discounts

Our TLC program provides employees with discounts to a variety of services, including:

  • Sporting events

Children's also provides discounted health care services for the children of employees who are treated at the hospital.
