"One Big KISS for Children's Hospital" Radiothon Raises Record $1.15 Million

February 13, 2006

KISS 106.1 FM, an Infinity broadcasting station, raised $1,153,483.80 for Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center during its 5th annual “One Big KISS for Children’s Hospital” Radiothon, which took place Feb. 8-11.

Radio personalities Jackie and Bender, along with other on-air KISS 106.1 staff, brought the stories of Children’s patients, families, staff and volunteers to their listeners across the region, who responded with generous donations.

“The community support of Children’s Hospital during the Radiothon was so touching. Our heartfelt thanks to Jackie and Bender for the fantastic, enthusiastic and tireless job they did to help us raise funds for patients in our area,” said Pamela Baughn, Children’s Hospital Guild Association Board of Trustees.

The funds raised from the Radiothon will benefit Children’s Greatest Needs, allowing the hospital to utilize funds where it is needed most. The four-day event was filled with emotional stories from current and past patients and families from start to finish.

“Jackie and Bender have once again shown how telling the amazing stories of Children’s can touch the hearts of thousands and thousands of KISS 106.1 listeners throughout the Puget Sound area. Our Radiothon has proved to be a powerful tool for our audience to connect themselves both emotionally and financially to this incredible hospital,” said Mike Preston, KISS 106.1 operations manager.

The Radiothon, an annual KISS 106.1 event in support of Children’s, was sponsored by Foresters and the John L. Scott Foundation.
