DAISY Awards to Honor Extraordinary Nurses at Children's Hospital

Six nurses at Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center are being honored with the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. The award is part of the DAISY Foundation’s program to recognize the inspirational everyday efforts of nurses.
The awards presented today at Children’s Hospital are sponsored by Barbara Murdoch Perra, RN, of the Special Procedures Unit at University of Washington Medical Center.
Each quarter, six nurses will be selected to receive the DAISY Award by Children’s Hospital’s DAISY Award subcommittee of staff RNs and managers.
Each honoree will receive a certificate commending them for being an “Extraordinary Nurse” at a presentation before colleagues, physicians, patients and visitors. Award recipients will also receive a sculpture called A Healer’s Touch, hand-carved by artists of the Shona Tribe of Zimbabwe.
Children’s Hospital nurses selected to be the first to receive this award are:
- Sue Prueitt, RNC, AD, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
- Esther Cook, RN, BSN, Surgical Unit
- Zuzi Adamik, RN, BSN, Surgical Unit
- Karen Dunn, RN, BSN, Dialysis
- Denise Kruml, RN, BSN, Children’s Consulting Nurses
- Mandy Kippen, RN, BSN, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance
