Children's Pediatrician-in-Chief Named President-elect of The Association of Medical School Pediatric Department Chairs

Seattle, Wash.: April 10, 2003 – Dr. Bruder Stapleton, Children's pediatrician-in-chief and chair of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine, was named president-elect of the Association of Medical School Pediatric Department Chairs (AMSPDC) at its annual meeting on March 9.

AMSPDC is the national association representing the 140 academic pediatric departments in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. The organization plays a major role in coordinating pediatric education for medical students, pediatric residents and sub-specialty fellows and serves as the academic coordinating group for issues related to child health care and pediatric research.

Dr. Stapleton will serve as president-elect in 2003 and 2004 and as president in 2005 and 2006.
