Dr. Ross Hays Achieves Board Certification in Hospice & Palliative Medicine

Congratulations to Dr. Ross Hays, director, Palliative Care at Children’s, on achieving certification in Hospice and palliative Medicine.
Dr. Hays is the only pediatrician in the five-state WWAMI region (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho) to have attained board certification in this speciality.
Hospice and Palliative Care are devoted to achieving the best possible quality of life for the patient and family throughout the course of a life-threatening illness through relieving suffering and controlling symptoms.
Dr. Hays is a nationally recognized expert in the field. He is actively involved in a number of collaborative research efforts with adult palliative care specialists in the Seattle area.
He also serves as course chair for the required chronic care rotation at the University of Washington School of Medicine where all students are given support and instruction in the care of and communication with patients at the end of life.
