Promoting Healthy and Safe Child Development
Children's works to improve the health and safety of children and families
through education programs, health care systems, and policy change.
Programs serve families and providers and include:
- Patient and family education
- Community education and outreach
- Injury prevention and health promotion
- Quality improvement
- Patient safety
Best practices, assessed needs, multidisciplinary teams, parent and family
involvement and evaluations help guide activities.
The following Health Education programs are part of Children's advocacy
agenda:
- Increasing the use of booster seats among children 4-8 years old.
- Decreasing drowning among children and youth and increasing the use
of life jackets among both children and adults.
- Increasing the use of safe firearm storage.
- Creating safe communities and reducing injuries among children and
youth in Central and Southeast Seattle as part of the Injury Free Coalition
for Kids of Seattle.
- Promoting immunizations.
- Promoting exercise and healthy eating to reduce obesity.
